![]() I've jumped back and forth between many different weather apps over the years, and I always seem to return to AccuWeather for one reason or another. ![]() They’re great if you’re looking for widgets that are clean and simple. ![]() There aren’t too many customization options for the widgets however, you can select the background and text colors, customize the transparency level, and select a specific location (if you’re following more than one in the app). Three of the widgets display the current weather and temperature, while one displays two days and the other displays the full week with additional details about the humidity and wind. Weather by WeatherBug has five widgets: 1x1, 2x1, 2x2, 3x1, and 4x2. The app includes ads and has both monthly and yearly subscription options to remove the ads. One really cool feature of Weather by WeatherBug is the Spark Lightning Alerts, which will let you know if there's any lightning in the area. You can get hourly and 10-day forecasts as well as 20 different weather maps. Weather by WeatherBug gives you free access to all kinds of useful information to keep you informed about the current weather and any weather-related events. Hands down 1Weather has some of the best weather widgets currently. You can also choose a specific location to show the weather for if you're following more than one. There are numerous layout styles, light and dark background color options, custom accent colors, and the ability to change the opacity level. The widgets aren't resizable, but they have some customization options to make them unique. Of course, the majority displays your current weather temp and conditions, though if you delve into the rest, you'll see that the current time, extended weather reports, not to mention the date, are all present in one form or another. When it comes to 1Weather's widgets, there are 12 in total, and they range from 1x1, 2x1, 2x2, 2x3, 3x4, 4x1, 4x2, and 4x3. While I've had some issues with inaccurate reporting, this is not an issue across the board, so like all weather apps, you have to decide which offers the most accurate info for your area. It goes beyond what a regular weather app would and gives me exactly what I want, with no complications in between.ĬARROT Weather is available on the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV and Mac.1Weather is a release that I've spent a lot of time with over the years and was my primary weather app for a time. With that said, CARROT Weather 5.0, by no surprise at all, gets a 4/4-star rating from me. I literally have no complaints about this app whatsoever. I cannot tell you how important that is where I am at (Des Moines, Iowa) where there literally has not been a day in February where it has not snowed.Įven though I do pay $24.99 a year for CARROT Weather, as I am a Tier 3 subscriber, for someone like me who uses the app on almost every device that I have (iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad and Mac), it is easily worth the money. Maybe I just have big fingers?Īs always, the app still provides its excellent notifications, such as when no weather alerts are out and when the snow is going to begin soon. It previously had this small drop-down arrow in the top-right corner of the app, which was not always easy to tap on the first or second…or third attempts. I do like that the app has a gray bar on the bottom for features like accessing your weather, other locations, radar and settings. It also helps that the icons are mostly blue, which is my favorite color. Its iOS 14 widget also got a slight new look with the new weather condition icons, as mentioned earlier, and newer, more vibrant colors. Whether its cloudy, sunny, partly cloudy and so forth, every single icon has been redesigned, giving it a new look.įor someone like me who is not always big on changes like apps that I use everyday, this is a design change I am completely on board with. This was great for its time, but with the new update, I now have access to six new types of weather screens.Īt this time, I have been using the new default screen because I like the refreshed look and that it gives me more data this time around, including when the sunset will come (specifically, what time), what the wind speed is going to be like and how much snow/rain I am projected to have that week.Īnother big part of this update is the weather condition icons. Previously in CARROT Weather, it only gave you options for one type of screen, which was the main weather screen where it gave you all of your weather data in the app. I have been a CARROT Weather user for at least a couple of years now and can say that this new update is quite the change, but in a good way.įirst of all, let’s talk about the design. It was quite the big week for apps because of Tweetbot also getting a big new updates with its sixth version of the app. A couple of weeks ago, CARROT Weather 5.0 was finally released to the public.
